Watch for School Buses Stopping in Kentucky

As the majority of children start back to school this week, Kentucky State Police ask one to pay close attention to bus stop signs. Statewide, more than 800 accidents involving school buses occurred, including 3 fatalities. Passing a school bus while it is stopped to unload or load children is a class B misdemeanor.



Corbin Woman Sets Husband on Fire

A Corbin woman is accused of setting her husband on fire, then driving him to the hospital. Investigators say Vera Wooten admitted pouring gasoline on her husband and setting him on fire after they had argued on Monday night (August 7). The victim was flow to a burn center in Cincinnati with burns over 50-percent of his body.



Hazard Pastor's Wife Faces Theft Charges

A grand jury has handed down theft charges against a Breathitt County pastor’s wife. Susan Pratt is accused of stealing money from the Mercy Clinic in Jackson. Prosecutors say Pratt took more than ten-thousand-dollars from the facility. Her husband is the pastor at Living Waters Full Gospel Church in Hazard.



Flat Lick Man Charged with Attempted Murder of Knox County Deputy

A Flat Lick man is charged with attempted murder of a police officer. Thomas Gray (36 years old) is accused of trying to run over a Knox County deputy early Tuesday morning (August 8). Gray missed the car and crashed into a ditch instead. He then ran away on foot. He was taken into custody a short time late, and faces several criminal charges.



DUI Driver in Hazard sends Two Children to Hospital

An accident yesterday afternoon (August 6) in Walmart parking lot in Hazard sent two children to the hospital. Hazard police say the accident happened at approximately 1:00 PM. The 35-year-old woman driver who hit the minors, Holly Combs, was arrested for DUI. Police say they found several illicit and subscription medications in the Combs’ vehicle, and that she was high when the accident happened.
