Letcher County is getting closer to gathering the money for a new water treatment plant. Plans have been in the works for the $14 million plant near Linefork that would supply all of Letcher County and part of Perry County. The Mountain Eagle reports the Letcher County Water and Sewer District needs just $3 million more in funding, and expects that to be awarded soon. Officials say the plant will draw water from the North Fork of the Kentucky River and be able to treat up to 2 million gallons a day.
