The 37th annual WYMT Mountain Classic got underway at the Morton Combs Athletic Center at Knott County Central last night.
The Letcher County Central Cougar boys took on tournament favorite Harlan County in the opening game.
Harlan County won 73-36 over the Cougars to advance to the semifinals.
In the second game at the mountain classic last night, Martin County beat Knott County Central 54-48.
So now, the LCC boys will play Knott County Central today at 5pm in the consolation round of the mountain classic.
Tonight at the boys session of Mountain Classic Perry County Central takes on Harlan Ind at 6:30pm and Clay County faces Floyd Central around 8.
The girls WYMT tournament will begin play on Wednesday
The 1-1 Jenkins Cavalier boys will be back in action tonight at home against the Belfry Pirates.
The 1-2 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will next play at Phelps on Wednesday.
The 0-1 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars be back in action this Thursday when they take on Harlan Independent in the home opener.
