Elkhorn City Man Sentenced in Shooting Death of His Brother

An Elkhorn City man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the shooting death of his brother. Following a plea deal, Cody Cantrell was sentenced last week for first-degree manslaughter in the death of Adam Cantrell for the May 2022 incident. The Appalachian News Express cites a Kentucky State Police report that Cody Cantrell had gotten into a fight with the men’s father which escalated to a fight between the brothers. Officials say he will have to serve at least 8.5 years of the 10-year sentence.
