Floyd County Schools Superintendent Anna Shepherd has announced her retirement.
In an all-staff email that went out on Thursday morning Shepherd said she will retire effective August 1.
Among her many accomplishments over the past three years, Shepherd was named Jobs for America’s Graduates 2024 Superintendent of the Year.
Among the accomplishments under her leadership was gaining funded positions for 13
School Resource Officers for the district’s 13 campuses.
She has not yet announced her plans for what’s next but promises to work for a smooth transition to the next leader.
