Letcher County Central Softball Season Ends With State Tournament Loss to North Laurel

The awesome season for Letcher County Central Lady Cougar softball ended last night with a 6-4 loss to North Laurel in the opening round of the KHSAA softball state tournament at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington.  

The LCC Lady Cougars finish at 27-10, the most regular season wins in school history.

Congratulations to all the players, coaches and Lady Cougar nation on a fantastic and memorable season including being 53rd District champions and 14th Region champions and making the first appearance in the softball state tournament in 13 years.  

In the other 3 softball state tournament opening round games yesterday,

Daviess County beat Mercer County 13-0 in 5 innings, Assumption got by Highlands 3-2 and Boyd County squeezed by Mercy Academy 2-1z

4 more softball state tournament opening round games will be played today.

15th Region champion Lawrence County will play tonight in the last game of the opening round at 8:30pm against McCracken County.  

Also today, Elizabethtown faces South Warren at 10:00am, Henderson County takes on Anderson County at 1:00pm and Montgomery County faces Lexington Catholic at 5:30pm. 

The softball state tournament quarterfinals will be Saturday at John Cropp Stadium. 

The semifinals and championship game will be next weekend June 14 and 15 also at UK’s John Cropp Stadium in Lexington.
