On Thursday, Aug 29 deputies with the Leslie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Cutshin Road in the Wooton community.
Deputies then contacted the Kentucky State Police, Post 13, for assistance.
When officers arrived, they found Mary Andrews of London with a gunshot wound.
Andrew was transported to Mary Breckinridge Hospital where she later died.
After further investigation, it was determined William Pennington of Wooton fired the shot that hit and eventually killed Mary Andrews.
Pennington has been charged with 1st degree Manslaughter and is currently being held at the Leslie County Detention Center.
KSP Public Affairs Officer Matt Gayheart said there is still much that us unknown about the case.
