Wise County Receives Federal Grant Money For Data Centers

Wise County is reportedly getting more than $4 million in federal grants to help build a couple of data centers. The Johnson City Press reports the Abandoned Mine Lands Economic Revitalization grants are for $1.2 million for a third building on the Project Intersection development in Norton and for $3 million for Data Center Ridge between Appalachia and Exeter. This is the second grant in a week toward Project Intersection – the paper reports last week it got an $800,000 Virginia Tobacco Commission grant to match a $3.16 million Virginia Coalfield Economic Development loan for the building.
