The College at Wise could soon be offering a masters program for Family Nurse Practitioners.
At their meeting this week the UVA College of Wise Committee heard a presentation about it and approved the College at Wise to set up the program.
The College’s chair of the Department of Nursing says it will specifically focus on training
nurse practitioners who can prescribe medications and to do work similar to a primary
care doctor.
The Cavalier Daily reports there would be options to complete the degree in two years as a full-time student or three years as a part-time student.
The program still has to go to the State Council of Higher Education for final approval.
