Update on Upgrades For the Fleming Neon Water System

Upgrades for the Fleming-Neon water system are moving forward, despite some delays.

At this month’s city council meeting, the mayor confirmed a $7.1 million grant from the
US Department of Agriculture.

The Mountain Eagle reports the money will help to pay for water meter upgrades throughout Fleming and downtown Neon as well as toward renovating lift stations and other gear to improve the wastewater system efficiency.

The work will go out for bid in April.

Meanwhile the city has reportedly gone after the Phase I contractor for costs related to delays to the waterline improvements for McRoberts.

The city has invoiced the company for $19,000 in losses and is reportedly considering legal
action to get the work finished.
