Two men have been arrested for allegedly breaking into a Pikeville flood shelter to try to steal from people living there.
Officials say David Helsel of Belfry and Curtis Murphy of Louisville are charged with burglary and criminal mischief after police claimed they broke into a room at Mullins Elementary where flood victims’ personal items were being stored while the victims stayed in the gym.
Mountain Top News reports an investigator says he saw surveillance video of the two men forcing open a classroom window, with Murphy allegedly climbing inside while Helsel was reportedly the lookout.
Cameras inside the school reportedly showed Murphy stealing items.
