As we approach the two-year anniversary of the devastating flood of July 2022, more signs of recovery and rebuilding are beginning to appear in Letcher County.
The commissioner of the state Department for Local Government, who is in charge of
allocating $298 million in federal Community Development Block Grant funding in
several of the hardest-hit counties, tells the Mountain Eagle that in Letcher County, $8.7
million of it is currently going to build 29 homes and their required infrastructure in Seco
and UZ.
He says Knott County also has new roads and utilities going in for a high-ground development they are calling Chestnut Ridge
