Several Counties Including Letcher Receive USDA Grant For Home Improvements

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced more than $935,000 in grants toward improved housing in rural Kentucky. The USDA Rural Development Kentucky State Director says the money will help very low-income homeowners with repairs and improvements. The Hazard Herald reports $130,000 will go to the Appalachian Service Project for homeowners in Letcher, Perry, Floyd, Knott and other counties; $150,000 will go to Frontier Housing to help in Kentucky’s persistent poverty counties; $250,000 will go to the Housing Development Alliance for folks in Perry, Leslie, Breathitt and Knott counties; and KY Habitat for Humanity will use a $200,000 in several areas.
