The Elkhorn City Council says they are determined to right the ship after the city ended up more than $300,000 in debt. At a specially called meeting last night, the Council took responsibility for not having been aware that the former City Clerk was in over her head and not keeping up with bills, including more than $100,000 in pension payments to the state. WYMT reports the council plans to take steps to shore up revenue by going after residents who owe thousands in water bills and updating property tax assessments. They are also getting some management guidance from the county and the state.
