Work continues on the new Floyd County Animal Shelter which is being built right next to the current one. The new shelter, which will cost around $500,000, has been years in the planning with the current one severely outdated. A County Animal Shelter Board Member tells WCHS they are building it about a foot higher than the road level in the event of high water. They are currently still preparing the site but when that’s done the building will start to take shape. They hope to have it open by fall.
