There’s a new study underway on heart and lung health in rural areas and Perry County is taking part.
Educators with the University of Louisville told the Hazard City Commission this week that the Rural Heart and Lung Study, funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, is looking at areas in four states, and in Kentucky particularly in Perry and Breathitt counties.
The Hazard Herald reports they have leased an area in Perry County Park where they have set up a mobile exam unit and are looking for about 800 people between the ages of 25 and 64 to participate over a period of time.
Participants get some compensation and access to their health date. Sign up at https://theruralstudy.org
