Low Flying Plane Causes Confusion Tuesday Afternoon on Cumberland River

Some purposely low-flying aircraft were a cause for alarm for some Eastern Kentucky residents Tuesday who reported what they thought was a plane crash near Eolia. Cumberland River Fire and Rescue reports that they and other emergency responders from Letcher and Harlan Counties were called out to reports of a plane crash near Kilbourn Drive on Hwy 932. But it turns out the US Geological Survey is doing some ground mapping in the region which requires low altitude flying and one of the planes apparently scraped the tops of some trees which someone mistook for a crash.
