Longtime Hazard City Commissioner Dr. John Fitzhugh Gilbert, Jr. has passed away at the age of 87.
Gilbert served the city from 1990 to 2013 with a one-term break in the middle and also served as a Mayor Pro-Tem when the Mayor traveled.
He was also a well-known local doctor, the third generation in his family to do so.
A date for a Celebration of Life is to be announced under the care of the Maggard Funeral Home.
