Sherry Ann Whitaker, age 68, of Ermine, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Whitesburg ARH. 

She is survived by her mother: Gertrude Hall Barnett of Ermine; her husband: Jimmy Whitaker; 1 daughter: Jamie Back of Blackey; 1 brother: Alex Barnett of Ermine; 1 sister: Carol Sexton of Ermine; 2 grandchildren: Josh Long and Will Long. 

No Services will be held for Sherry Ann Whitaker.

Burgess Van Napier

Burgess Van Napier, age 73 of Whitesburg, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

He is survived by his wife: Ava Katherine Napier; 3 brothers: Johnny Wayne Napier of Little Cowan, Kyle Lynn Napier of Jenkins, and Mark Allen Napier of Mayking and 1 sister: Terena Ann Profitt of Campbranch.

Funeral services for Burgess Van Napier will be held at 11:00am this 

morning Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Mullins officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Fields and Day Cemetery at Whitesburg.

Christopher Shaun Tackett

Christopher Shaun Tackett, age 55, of Dorton, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Pikeville Medical Center. 

He is survived by his father: Phillip Ray Tackett of Dorton; his wife: Trena Johnson Tackett; four sons, Wesley Bryant of Shelby Gap, Christopher “Nevin” Tackett of Pikeville, Jonathon “Wyatt” Tackett of Dorton, Jessie Lee Tackett of Dorton; one daughter: Raina Faith Mullins of Dorton; three brothers: Jeff Tackett of Bedford, Johnny Tackett of Dorton and Todd Tackett of Dorton; one sister, Tabitha Newsome of Dorton; five grandchildren and two special granddaughters.

Funeral services for Christopher Shaun Tackett will be held at 11:00am Monday at the Pilgrim Prayer Old Regular Baptist Church with Daryl Newsome and others officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Tackett Family Cemetery at Cabin Fork. 

Visitation will be after 6:00pm this evening, Saturday, at the Church with services starting at 7:00PM.

Freddie Jent, age 74, passed away on Wednesday October 16, 2024 at his residence 

He is survived by his great niece: Juanita Stidham of Vicco; nieces, Brenda Adams of Hazard, Sharon Eldridge  of Viper, Tammy Oliver of London, Tammy Elliott of Scuddy, Carol Smith of Scuddy, Darlene Jent of Frankfort, Debbie Manis of Isom and Pamela Huff of Hazard; nephews, Ray Bowling of Vicco, Ricky Wooton of Scuddy, Bugsy Wooton of Scuddy, Elvis Jent of Fork Branch, Brandon Williams of Vicco, Clarence Combs of Vicco and Jamie Bowling of Isom; one brother, Jimmy Jent of Fork Branch and special friend, Juanita Pridemore.

Visitation will be held after 6:00pm this evening, Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Kodak Church of the True and Living God.

Funeral Services for Freddie Jent will be held at 2:00pm Sunday October 20, 2024 at the Kodak Church of the True and Living God with Randy Gwin officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Jent Cemetery at Vicco.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made towards the funeral expenses.

Gladys Coots, age 98, of Viper passed away on Monday October 14, 2024 at her residence.

She is survived by her son: Donnie Coots of Viper; 2 grandchildren: Jeffrey Scott Coots of Viper and Paula Combs of Hazard; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren along with neighbor and friend, Thomas Messer.

Funeral Services for Gladys Coots will be held at 1:00pm this afternoon, Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Jeffrey Scott Coots officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Causey Family Cemetery ata Viper.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Maces Creek Church of God at P.O. Box 1451 – Viper, Kentucky 41774.
