Dan Attwood Collins

Dan Attwood Collins, age 74, of Smoot Creek, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the UK Medical Center IN Lexington.

He is survived by his wife: Charlotte McKinney Collins; 3 sisters: Roseanne Sharp of Louisville, Ronita Thornsberry of Richmond and Lydia Katherine Collins of London and 2 grandchildren.

A Graveside Service for Dan Attwood Collins will be held at 4:30pm Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Henry Tackett Cemetery at Melvin, Kentucky. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. – 10:00pm today, Friday, at the Little Colley Baptist Church. 

The Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Sonny Lee “BuBo” Bates

Sonny Lee “BuBo” Bates, age 57, of Thornton, passed away on Monday May 13, 2024 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Brittany Maggard of Thornton and Amber Caudill of Blackey and 4 grandchildren.  

Funeral services for Sonny Lee “Bu Bo” Bates will be held at 12:00 noon today, Friday May 17, 2024 at the Everidge Funeral Home Chapel with Caleb Howard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

Sharon L. Lewis, age 67, of Lynch, passed away on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, at the Hazard ARH

She is survived by her husband: Terry Lewis of Lynch; 1 daughter, Crystal Lewis of Lynch; 3 sisters: Judy Caudill of Oven Fork, Vicilla Yeary of Lynch and Veria “Cookie” Baldwin of Cumberland; 1 brother: Bo Reynolds of Benham; 1 granddaughter, 1 great granddaughter and sister-in-law: Betty Reynolds of Lynch.

A Celebration of Life Service for Sharon L. Lewis will be held at 1:0pm on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, at the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home with Jacob Doyle officiating.

Fred Edward Frazier, age 75, of Whitesburg, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.

He is survived by:

2 Children – William Frazier and Christa Causey

1 Brother – Ralph Frazier Jr.

1 Sister – Linda Murphy

Funeral services for Fred Edward Frazier will be held at 3:00pm Saturday May 18, 2024 at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel in Hindman with the Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00pm this evening, Friday at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel.

Hester Sowards Baker

Hester Sowards Baker, age 97, of Cabin Fork in Pike County, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at her residence.

She is survived by one son; Michael Baker of Pikeville, one son-in-law; Glen Beverly, one daughter-in-law; Peggy Baker, one sister; Helen Newsome of TN, seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren, five great-great- grandchildren, and six step great-great-grandchildren. Along with special friends; Denise Smallwood, Lisa Burke and Doris Tackett.

Visitation will begin after 6:00pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home at Virgie with services on Monday night beginning at 7:00pm.  

Funeral services for Hester Sowards Baker will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Hall &Jones Funeral Home at Virgie with Jason Beverly and others officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery at Cabin Fork.

Donnie Ray Sergent

Donnie Ray Sergent, age 71, of Jenkins passed away Saturday May 11, 2024, at the Pikeville Medical Center. 

He is survived by his sister: Debbie Neal of North Carolina; three children: Jamie Stewart of Tennessee, Angie m Mullins of Coeburn, VA and Jeff Ratliff of Neon; eight grandchildren; Two nephews; One niece and one great nephew.

A memorial service for Donnie Ray Sergent will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jenkins with Gary Robbins officiating. 

Visitation will begin on Saturday at 1:00pm at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. 

Burial will follow in the Bentley Cemetery at Payne Gap.
