Wilma Meade Stambaugh

Wilma Meade Stambaugh, age 76, of McRoberts, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard.

She is survived by 1 son: Paul Stambaugh of McRoberts; 1 daughter: Deborah Spangler of Jackhorn; 1 sister: Elinda Meade of Jackhorn; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Wilma Meade Stambaugh will be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Fleming officiating. 

Visitation will be from 6:00-10:00pm this evening, Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking.

Pearl B. Hall

Pearl B. Hall, age 86, of Neon, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center. 

She is survived by two sons: Ben Hall of Hemphill and Dave Hall of Hemphill; three daughters: Diane Hall of Hemphill, Sheila Hall of Hemphill and Lucy Hall of Virginia, one special niece; Georgia Burke of Indiana, one special grandchild; Pearl Hall, five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. 

Funeral services for Pearl B. Hall will be held at 11:00am tomorrow, Saturday July 6, 2024, at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home, Jenkins Chapel with Frank Adams officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery at Neon. 

Visitation will be after 6:00pm this evening, Friday, at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home, Jenkins Chapel with services tonight at 7:00pm.

Rufus Scott Garrett

Rufus Scott Garrett, age 47, of Neon, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at his residence. 

He is survived by his father: Jack Pierce Garrett; 1 son: Braxton Potter of Hemphill; 1 brother: Jack William Garrett of Virginia; 1 sister: Mary Carter of Virginia; godchildren: Corbyn Whitaker and Camdyn Whitaker; nieces: Haley Mays of Virginia; nephew: Cory Kiser of Virginia. 

A Memorial Service for Rufus Scott Garrett will be held at a later date.

Lavada Ladd Ogelvie

Lavada Ladd Ogelvie, age 96, of Cromona, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Whitesburg ARH. 

She is survived by 1 brother: David Ladd of Haymond; 1 sister: Gail Bryant of North Carolina and 3 grandchildren.  

Funeral services for Lavada Ladd Ogelvie will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Hurst officiating. 

Visitation will be after 6:00pm Saturday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

Burial will follow in the Thornton Cemetery at Thornton.

William Donald “Don” Childers

William Donald Childers, age 92, of Whitesburg, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his residence.

He is survived by his wife: Peggy Jo Ratliff Childers; two daughters: Donna Jo Childers of Nicholasville and Ina Michelle (Missy) Matthews, her husband Charles Matthews Jr. and their children Eli Matthews and Isaac Matthews, all of Whitesburg; granddaughter Carlie Childers Cornett, grandson Jordan Childers and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate charitable gifts be made to the First Baptist Church of Whitesburg or to the double kwik Fueling the Future Foundation, which provides scholarships in the counties served by the company Don founded.

A memorial service for William Donald “Don” Childers will be held at 1:00pm Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Whitesburg First Baptist Church.

Bishop Willie Lamb, age 100, of McRoberts, passed away in Akron, Ohio, on Saturday, June 22, 2024. 

Memorial services for Bishop Willie Lamb will begin at 12:00PM tomorrow, Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Church of God Militant Pillar and Ground of Truth in Akron, Ohio.

Visitation will be tomorrow, Saturday, July 6 at 11:00am until the time of service at the Church. 

A local visitation for Bishop Willie Lamb will take place on Monday July 8 from 12:00 noon to 8:00pm at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. 

Burial will follow in the Tom Biggs Cemetery at McRoberts.
