Nancy Carol Smith

Nancy Carol Smith, age 71, of Kingdom Come Creek, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Whitesburg ARH.

She is survived by her husband: Carroll Smith; 1 son: Matthew Smith of Kingdom Come; 2 daughters: Melanie Cook and Mica Smith Johnston all of Kingdom Come; 2 brothers: Tony Wilder and Johnny Wilder all of McRoberts; 3 sisters: Ronnie Johnson of Florida, Brenda Little and Missy Lucas all of McRoberts; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services for Nancy Carol Smith will be held at 12:00 Noon today, Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Seco Freewill Baptist Church with Travis Hall officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Kingdom Come Cemetery at Kingdom Come.

Margaret Laverne Amburgey

Margaret Laverne Amburgey, age 89, of Whitesburg, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.

She is survived by 4 sons: William Amburgey, Robert Amburgey, Jerry Amburgey and Mark Amburgey; 2 daughters: Vernisa Amburgey and Veronica Sexton; special granddaughters: Brandi Thomas and Shianne Sexton along with a host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Margaret Laverne Amburgey will be held at 1:00pm this afternoon, Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Amburgey and Cody Thomas officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Madden and Johnson Cemetery at Isom.

Shelia Bernice Dixon

Shelia Bernice Dixon, age 57, of Linefork, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2024 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.

She is survived by 1 son: Henry Halcomb of Blackey; 4 daughters: Cassandra Coots of Georgia, Carolyn Halcomb of Linefork, Jessica Halcomb of Neon and April Halcomb of Whitesburg; 1 brother: Harold Dixon Jr. of Turkey Creek; 2 sisters: Virginia Dams of Turkey Creek and Doris Hudson of Whitesburg; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Shelia Bernice Dixon will be held at 12:00 noon, today, Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Cedar Grove Church at Hallie.

Burial will follow in the Dixon Cemetery at Hallie.

Doris Evelyn (Holbrook) Hall

Doris Evelyn (Holbrook) Hall, age 90, of Jenkins, passed away on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at Letcher Manor in Whitesburg.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Kenna Webb of Jenkins and Denita Carter of Burdine; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Linda Holbrook of Murfreesboro, TN and Katherine Davis of Haymond; 1 brother Verlis Holbrook of Haymond along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Doris Evelyn (Holbrook) Hall will be held at 1:00pm tomorrow, Saturday February 3, 2024 at the Hemphill Freewill Baptist Church at Jackhorn with Danny Hurst officiating. 

Visitation will be from 11:00am tomorrow, Saturday, until the time of services at 1:00pm at the Hemphill Freewill Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery at Neon.

Phronia Johnson

Phronia Johnson, age 86, of Partridge, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Tri Cities Nursing and Rehab Center in Cumberland.

She is survived by 1 sister: Arlene Caudill of Cumberland along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm today, Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Tri-City Funeral Home at Benham. 

Funeral services for Phronia Johnson will follow at 2:00pm this afternoon, Friday, at the Tri-City Funeral Home at Benham with Jeff Roberts officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery at Partridge.

Mason Roberts, age 73, of Slemp, passed away on Friday January 26, 2024 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife: Ollie Roberts of Slemp; 1 Son: Rodney Roberts of Indianapolis, IN; 1 Step-Son: Jerry Stamper of Letcher County; 2 Brother-In-Laws: Harlan Cornett and Carlos Holbrook and 2 Grandchildren: Kaden Roberts and Autumn Nicole Stamper.

Visitation for Mason Roberts will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm today, Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard.

A Memorial Service for Mason Roberts will follow at 1:00pm this afternoon, Friday, at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard with Guy Roberts officiating.
