The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars got the 1-0 win over Breathitt County at Perry County Central on Tuesday in the opening round of the Softball 14th Region Tournament.
A Kara Holcomb RBI single in the top of the 7th inning, scored Sarah Richardson, and broke open a scoreless tie with the only run of the game.
LCC held on to claim the win in the bottom of the 7th.
It was a pitcher’s dual. Letcher County Central starter Alyssa Nicely got the win by tossing a complete game one hitter, striking out 12 and walking two.
Catlin Pennington took the loss for Breathitt County LadyCats.
She went six innings, allowing the one run on five hits, striking out six and walking none.
The Lady Cougars will now advance to Thursday’s semifinals where they will face Perry County Central at 7:00pm at Perry Central.

The 14th Region softball tournament championship game will be Saturday at 3:00pm at Perry Central.
