The 14th Region baseball tournament four opening round games were played yesterday.
In game three of the day, the Letcher County Cougars lost 12-1 in 5 innings to the Powell County Pirates. LCC got in a 4-0 hole early due to great pitching by sophomore Lacy Dicken. The Cougars never found their offense and lost to the Pirates, ending their season. The young Cougars fought adversity and an early season coaching change to finish great at 17-10 and 53rd District champions.
In the other games of the 14th Region Baseball Tournament yesterday:
Estill County got by Leslie County 4-3
It was Knott County Central beating Breathitt County 13-3 in 5 innings and Hazard came back to beat Wolfe County 3-1.
So in the baseball region semifinals on Wednesday, Estill County will take on Knott County Central at 5:30pm followed by Hazard facing Powell County at 7:30pm with both games at Knott County Central.
The Championship game will be Friday evening at 6:30pm.
