KY DOT Announces Upgrade of US 119 between Ermine and Mayking

An $11.5 million upgrade is on tap for 2024 for US 119 between Ermine and Mayking. The Kentucky Department of Transportation is getting ready to rebuild the portion from Cougar Drive to the four-lane section at Mayking in what officials say will be the biggest road project this year for Letcher County. The Mountain Eagle reports this stretch of US 119 has become a priority after several fatal accidents and the road’s general state of disrepair. Meanwhile, reportedly on the docket for 2025 is a $10 million fix of the three-lane section of 119 from Cougar Drive to KY 15 at Pine Mountain Junction.
