Jenkins Homecoming Days are this weekend, Friday and Saturday and on Saturday afternoon Paul Thompson will be presented with the “Outstanding Citizen Award”.
The Mountain Eagle reports Thompson, a veteran of the Vietnam War, was with the Jenkins
Volunteer Fire Department for about 30 years with nearly 20 as Chief.
Among his many other contributions to the community, Paul is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Jenkins and was previously named “Outstanding Kiwanian”.
And he maintains the “Welcome to Jenkins” sign and flower bed above the football field.
He will be honored on Saturday at 3pm at a ceremony during the festival.
