Hazard Receives $1.8 Million in Flood Repair Reimbursement

Hazard is getting a $1.8 million reimbursement from FEMA for July 2022 flood damage repair for the Black Gold Circle drain system. City Manager Tony Eversole tells WYMT the road essentially imploded due to so much water, destroying the asphalt, taking down light posts and crushing the drains. The City poured in money to keep the road from washing out under the businesses there. He reminds people the $1.8 million does not put the City ahead, because they had to borrow money for repairs and are now paying that back plus still doing other repairs, but he calls it a step in the right direction
