Millions of dollars have been presented to Letcher County by Governor Andy Beshear to help improve the water and sewer infrastructure. Whitesburg was the governor’s first stop Tuesday on a tour of some of new higher ground communities underway since the 2022 floods, including Letcher County’s Cottages at Thompson Branch. WYMT reports among the financial help will be $1.3 million for better sewer infrastructure in Fleming-Neon, $1.2 million for the Letcher County Water & Sewer District for more waterlines, $1.9 million toward Whitesburg’s Downtown Waterline Replacement and $1 million toward a new water treatment plant at the Letcher/Perry County line.
