Governor Andy Beshear says the state is going to speed up the progress to finish the final section of the Mountain Parkway Expansion project into Floyd County thanks to a
$116 million federal grant.
The project’s designers have said it will provide a safer, faster commute and support economic development throughout Eastern Kentucky.
In all the project will have widened 32 miles of the Parkway.
But the final piece which is still under development is a nearly 13-mile stretch of new construction known as the “Magoffin-Floyd” segment that will extend the parkway from Salyersville to Prestonsburg.
