A federal official who is part of the decision on whether Letcher County will be chosen for a new federal prison has paid a visit to the County.
Congressman Hal Rogers says on Facebook that on Wednesday Colette Peters, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, visited Letcher before she issues her Record of Decision on the proposed prison in Roxana.
Rogers says he invited state and local leaders to show Peters the investments they have made in Letcher County in preparation for economic growth, and with what he calls great anticipation for additional jobs that the new prison would bring.
