Defendant in Amber Spradlin Murder Case Appeals Bond Reduction Request

A Prestonsburg man accused of killing a woman at his father’s home in 2023 is appealing a judge’s denial of request to lower his bond.

M.K. McKinney is charged with murder and conspiracy to tamper with evidence in the death of Amber Spradlin with bond set at $5 million.

Last month his attorney argued to a Special Judge that McKinney was not a flight risk or danger to the public and asked for his bond to be lowered but the Judge Eddy Coleman said no.

This week McKinney’s attorney filed a notice of intent to appeal but since the appeal itself is not yet public, the grounds for it are not yet known.
