The trial for three men charged in connection with the murder of a Prestonsburg woman in 2023 will likely be moved out of Floyd County.
Michael “M.K.” McKinney is charged with murder in the death of Amber Spradlin.
His father Michael McKinney and friend Josh Mullins each face multiple counts of tampering with evidence.
They are all set to be tried together unless their attorney files to sever their cases at some point.
At a hearing this week their attorney asked to move the case out of Floyd County due to the
publicity.
The prosecution did not object and the judge said Pike County would be the preferred location.
Both sides have two weeks to respond to that change.
Meanwhile the defense has also asked for a speedy trial, sometime in September but the
prosecution says forensic evidence is still being processed and asked for January.
