The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of a bridge closure along KY 15x in Letcher County for a rehabilitation project. The bridge is located in downtown Whitesburg on East Main Street at mile point 1.66 (.02 miles South of KY 2545).
Crews will begin operations to rehab the deck and beams starting today, Monday, May 6. Once concrete operations are complete, crews will cover the area in carbon fiber. This project is scheduled to take approximately three to four weeks, based on the complexity of the work.
During this time, the bridge will remain closed to all traffic, including emergency vehicles. These impacts are necessary due to the size of the equipment needed and to allow crews room to work safely above and below the bridge.
Motorists must use an alternate route. Please watch for signage and slow down when encountering a work zone.
