17 people are arrested for stealing Covid relief pandemic funds by forging the names and birthdates of Dickenson County inmates.
According to the DOJ, it started back in March of 2020, when Josef Brown, Jonathan Webb, and Crystal Shaw cooked up their scheme and gathered birth dates, social security numbers and other personal information belonging to people incarcerated at Haysi Regional Jail in Dickenson County.
The three then filled out unemployment forms in their names and stole, in total, $341,205 dollars worth of pandemic relief they were not entitled to.
