Several local school districts that sustained damage in the July 2022 flood are getting money from the ARH Foundation for Healthier Communities.
Foundation officials say the 2022 flood left a lasting impact on the community, displacing families, damaging schools, and creating ongoing challenges for students and educators.
The Foundation is giving $10,000 each to the Letcher, Floyd, Perry, Knott, Leslie, Breathitt and Hazard Independent school districts to help replace lost educational materials, phys ed gear or
classroom supplies or provide mental health services or address other needs necessary
for students and staff well being.
Mountain Top News reports that in addition, Delta Dental of Kentucky is donating mouthguards to those districts for student athletes.
