The KHSAA High School softball state tournament wrapped up over the weekend and South Warren, ranked No. 1 in both the state and the nation, won their first ever state title with an 8-0 shutout win Saturday over No. 3 Bullitt East in the championship game at UK’s John Cropp Stadium.
Courtney Norwood, a junior who has committed to UK commit, tossed a two-hit shutout against for the Spartans to earn the tournament’s most valuable player honor for a senior-laden team filled with future NCAA Division I college talent.
South Warren finishes a record setting season undefeated at 45-0.
Three Kentucky high school softball teams had previously gone undefeated on the way to a state championship. Greenwood went 44-0 in 2013; Male went 39-0 in 2019 and Ballard went 39-0 in 2022.
