Hazard Police Chief Darren Williams has reportedly been fired.
On Monday the Hazard City Commission met in executive session and voted unanimously to terminate Williams following a recommendation from the Hazard City Manager.
The Hazard Herald reports that last month former Deputy Chief Jessica Cornett filed a lawsuit claiming she was retaliated against for reporting excessive use of force by Williams for an incident in April.
And recently a Hazard citizen filed a lawsuit claiming he was unlawfully arrested by Williams in July when he was trying to obtain some public records at the police station.
There is no word yet on when or how Williams will be replaced, with the City Manager
telling WYMT he will do “what he can do” until a new chief is found.
