Letcher County Grand Jury Could Hear Former Sheriff Mickey Stines Case in November

Letcher County Grand Jury is expected to convene within the next month to hear the
case against former Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines who is accused of shooting
and killing District Judge Kevin Mullins in the judge’s chambers on September 19.

Stines has pleaded not guilty to murder.

The Letcher County Court Schedule shows Grand Jury dates between November 7 and November 30.

Meanwhile, although Stines is being held in an out-of-county jail for his safety, his attorney Jeremy Bartley told local media last week he would like Stines to be tried in Letcher County to be among a jury of his peers.

Bartley said a chief regional judge will be selected to preside over the trial.
