Burgess Van Napier

Burgess Van Napier, age 73 of Whitesburg, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

He is survived by his wife: Ava Katherine Napier; 3 brothers: Johnny Wayne Napier of Little Cowan, Kyle Lynn Napier of Jenkins, and Mark Allen Napier of Mayking and 1 sister: Terena Ann Profitt of Campbranch.

Funeral services for Burgess Van Napier will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Mullins officiating. 

Visitation will be from 6:00pm-9:00pm this evening, Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

Burial will follow in the Fields and Day Cemetery at Whitesburg.  

The Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Ollie Mae Adams

Ollie Mae Adams, age 65, of Whitesburg, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Whitesburg ARH. 

She is survived by her mother: Nellie Eldridge Slone; her husband: Douglas Adams; 2 daughters: Shirlyn Perkins of Hallie and Sheena Grogan of Whitesburg; 2 brothers: Alvin Slone of Breathitt County and Jason Slone of Jeremiah; 2 sisters: Lora Quillen of Roxana and Fayetta Keel of Millstone and 4 grandchildren.  

Funeral services for Ollie Mae Adams will be held at 1:00pm this afternoon, Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

The Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg is in charge of the arrangements.

L.C. Slone

L.C. Slone, age 77, of Redfox, formerly of Pinetop, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his residence.

He is survived by:

Children – Mark Slone, Brock Slone, Lana Smith and Neil Slone

5 Grandchildren 

7 Great Grandchildren 

1 Brother – Uriah Slone

3 Sisters – Shirley Adams, Lillie Bentley and Arda White

2 Brothers-in-law – Curby Thacker and Jimmy Huff

and Sister-in-law – Reda Slone

Funeral services for L.C. Slone will be held at 11:00am this morning Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Omaha Bible Church in Knott County with Jordan Honeycutt officiating. 

Burial will follow at the Doug Bates Cemetery at Pinetop.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Bluegrass Care Navigators.

Gladys Coots

Gladys Coots, age 98, of Viper passed away on Monday October 14, 2024 at her residence.

She is survived by her son: Donnie Coots of Viper; 2 grandchildren: Jeffrey Scott Coots of Viper and Paula Combs of Hazard; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren along with neighbor and friend, Thomas Messer.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-9:00pm this evening, Friday at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard.

Funeral Services for Gladys Coots will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Jeffrey Scott Coots officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Causey Family Cemetery at Viper.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Maces Creek Church of God at P.O. Box 1451 – Viper, Kentucky 41774.
