Water rates could be going up for some who live in Floyd County.
Mountain Top News reports Southern Water and Sewer District has filed an application with the Kentucky Public Service Commission to raise rates by more than 28 percent which would amount to about an extra $15 a month for an average customer.
The company says they need the extra money to shore up finances and comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The Public Service Commission has not yet said when they will take up the request.
