The annual Kentucky Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service will be held next month in Frankfort.
The October 2 event is in remembrance of the 11 men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023.
Among those that will be memorialized this year are Whitesburg Fire Department Assistant Chief Joe Back who passed away in October 2023.
Joe was hired by the Whitesburg Fire Department in 1993, became assistant fire chief in 1998, and served there until the day he died while responding to an EMS call.
