As Eastern Kentucky commemorates the two year anniversary of the life changing flood of July 2022, the Hindman Settlement School has given an update on their continuing effort to restore their thousands of pictures, documents, and other items from their archives that were damaged in flood waters.
Archivist Sarah Insalaco tells WYMT that some of the items date back to when the school was founded in 1885.
To preserve the items, they froze them in five industrial freezers. In the last two years, they haven’t even quite gotten through two of them.
They are looking for volunteers to help with the job.
