The next phase of a higher ground community in Perry County is underway, and on Friday Governor Andy Beshear stopped by to help celebrate as part of his day visiting Eastern Kentucky to commemorate the Flood of July 2022.
Road building continues for the Skyview Community in Hazard which has started its second $12.7 million phase with some houses expected to start going up this fall.
Skyview is one of seven high-ground community sites underway in Eastern Kentucky, including Grand View and The Cottages at Thompson Branch in Letcher County, New Hope Estates and Wayland in Floyd County, and Chestnut Ridge and Olive Branch in Knott County.
On Friday Beshear also visited Chestnut Ridge and Wayland to celebrate their progress.
