Whitesburg city officials are reportedly milling over whether to donate opioid lawsuit settlement money to the Help End Addiction for Life or HEAL recovery hub.
The Mountain Eagle reports Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation has asked the city
to follow the lead of other Letcher County cities and donate to their plan for a system of
local health organizations that will work on helping those in recovery with basic needs,
job seeking, peer support and other resources.
Officials say HEAL has gotten opioid money commitment from Jenkins, Fleming- Neon and Letcher County.
The Mayor tells the paper the HEAL donation will be on the agenda for the July city council meeting.
