The City of Jenkins is reportedly going to apply for a couple of multi-million-dollar grants to upgrade the city’s stormwater and sewage infrastructure. The Mountain Eagle reports one is a $5 million grant for a project to study the city’s history during major rainstorms to find better ways to control the stormwater flow. The other grant is for $10 million to help increase capacity for the wastewater treatment plant. Officials say a better sewage system for the industrial park could help to attract more businesses to the city.
