The cost of internet access could be going up for some residents as the federal program that helps to pay for it is running out of cash. The Hazard Herald reports more than a third of Perry County households are currently getting $30 a month from the federal Affordable Connectivity Program which was created by congress in 2021 to help get people back to work and connected with school after the pandemic. But it was only funded for a one-time appropriation and will likely not be replenished.
