Letcher County Will Share $300 Million in Federal Flood Recovery Funds

Letcher is among 20 Eastern Kentucky counties that will be sharing in about $300 million toward recovery from the 2022 flood. In a statement this week U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell says that the Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved Kentucky’s 2022 Community Block Grant Disaster Recovery action plan. The plan lays out how the funding will be distributed among the counties and was reportedly done in concert with local leaders in Letcher, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Leslie, Perry, Pike, and more. McConnell’s statement did not specify when the money would arrive.
