Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines says his office has been getting information on a scam call going around the county. He says the scammers are calling and saying that they are from American Electric Power and asking for payment on your electric bills, and they are doing what’s called “spoofing” the number so it shows up saying American Electric Power on your caller ID. He reminds you to be cautious and never give out personal information or banking information over the phone. And he asks that you communicate this with older members of your family as they are often targeted.
