Pike County Man Charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer

A Pike County man is charged with six counts of attempted murder of a police officer for a December 14 incident at a home in Robinson Creek. According to the Appalachian News Express, Robin Bentley allegedly fired more than 100 rounds at six Pike County deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers who were attempting to take him into custody in relation to a court-ordered mental petition. The stand-off lasted about 90 minutes during which the officers all took cover behind vehicles. No one was hurt. Bentley was being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
