$1.5 Million in ARC Funding For Nature Based Tourism

Several hundred thousand dollars in funding is coming to the Cumberland-Pine Mountain Outdoor Recreation and Conservation Corridor project.

Last week the Appalachian Regional Commission announced $1.5 million in grants to bolster four projects through their Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies or ARISE
program.

Among the four projects, $400,000 went to the non-profit The Nature Conservancy specifically to encourage nature-based tourism in the Cumberland-Pine Mountain region of Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.

ARC says they will produce a nature-based tourism map and a prioritized list of recreation infrastructure upgrades.
